great show last night with the band. as I type this, i'm listening to the stuff we recorded... so many magical moments! i'm really liking how some of the new songs are coming along.... it's nice to be able to get other musicians playing on the songs when they're still young. grows them in slightly different ways that wouldn't happen if i was just demoing at home all the time.

i'm working on a new website design. sick of the old kk.com! it's done us well but it's time to move on. i have new photos and i'm really really happy with them... taken by my friend Karen Baer. she did an awesome job. no matter how great the photographer, i think i always end up looking goinky in photos, totally of my own doing (like... what kind of smile was that??? ) , but she was patient and made me feel pretty damn comfortable, i didn't look goinky even once!

sometimes i like doing design work almost as much as i like writing songs. it definitely feels like another creative output.. and damn, it's instant gratification to be able to see a tangible result. i'm all about tangible results, regardless of the profession i've chosen. maybe that's why i get burnt out sometimes...

speaking of which. i've got to go home. i need some quiet time to be with family and hell, just walk the dog and think. i've booked my flight and will be there in a couple weeks. i think that's the most spontaneous vacation i've ever planned. it also coincides fairly nicely with my birthday... sort of.... i'll fly in a week AFTER my 25th birthday. I think that's still PLENTY of grace period for there still to be a nice big birthday party with lots of beer. *grin*

get ready winnipeg!

we had one day of summer and i pulled out my "celebrating the first day of summer" sundress.... bright green with big white daisies. it's the brightest thing you've ever seen and i love it. woohoo!

i'm really looking forward to the toronto show at c'est what on the 24th ... it's been a long time since i played with a 5 piece band... and we're doing a whack of new songs that i'm dying to share with everyone. i just got a bunch of the photos from the us tour and i want to put them together into a little book to put on the merch table for friends to see... if i get the time!

my birthday is coming up, i'm fully preparing for my quarter life crisis... actually part of me thinks i had it a long time ago and that this will simply be the official age finally coming to the forefront. i always find myself forgetting my age every year... by the time my actual birthday comes around i already felt the age i'm turning for a good few months... it gets confusing!

Long Island, NY... hello! yesterday i saw the statue of liberty for the first time... it was a 3 second, drive-by sighting while driving past the bottom of manhatten, but i saw it all the same (!) it looked very green... i played at the bitter end in NYC last night and it was great. things are going very well and fun on this tour... ms florian and i are such a good road team. we think we are possibly twin sisters seperated at birth. *grin* she has been plugging me with vitamins 3 times a day, in every shape and color imaginable. i figure i'll be super healthy when i get home... maybe i'll even glow some irridescent color? one dosage i've managed to avoid the last couple mornings was "greens plus"... something goopy and green mixed with water... hehehehe

It's finally sunny out today... for the first few days of the tour (since the beginning of the tour) have been cold and rainy... I've worn all the layers I brought with me. The funny thing is, the day before i left on tour, it was sunny and 16 degrees out in Toronto, so i got all excited and bought these funky pink sunglasses and packed my sandals for the trip... and hopefully it hasn't been been completely in vain. Well, so i haven't had a chance to wear my sandals yet this tour but i've been wearing my sunglasses even on the darkest, rainiest days, just hoping it will influence the weather! hehehehehe....

time to shower...
