had an inspirational week working on the record, after a period of being completely down in the dumps about it. so inspiration was my week that i had to go out today and get one of those ergonomic wrist rest things for when i use my computer trackball... and i'm having to take arm relaxation breaks. (these usually involve watching massive episodes of Law and Order).

so things are coming along, suddenly quite fast. wouldn't it be nice if this was finally the fast track to being done. i can't talk about it anymore, my superstitions are rearing their ugly noisy heads.

i'm heading home to winnipeg next week to visit my family (a belated holiday visit) and help my baby sister pick out a wedding dress. should be quite an experience! i'm really happy that i get to help her out with this most important task, however i suspect that my dress-shopping skills are pretty dusty from years of not wearing dresses. i told a friend i might wear a dress to a birthday bash and he said he had never seen me in one. that struck me as kind of a funny thing... like - is the fact that i rarely wear dresses something he noticed?? - but i guess i might say the same thing if he suddenly wore a tuxedo or something.

my biggest clothing problem is that i hate a lot of what i see in the stores that are plentiful... and there's a whole category of clothes that i love but don't think i could wear... so finding actual clothes on the rare occasion that i go shopping is a pretty difficult thing. when you find the right piece you just know it... but finding it is the hard part.

speaking of which... while we were packing up after recent show a guy came up to us and commented on how that night i was wearing the same shirt as the one in my photo on the poster and didn't i have any other clothes? he asked me this, after coming up to the tip jar and throwing in about 50 cents worth of pocket change. i didn't know what to say, because the truth is, when i have money, i tend to spend it on guitars and strings and gas to get to gigs and the like... and food!... so i thought that was kind of a funny question. maybe to him it looked like i was making a lot of money that night playing in the coffeeshop for tips. oh yes sir, actually my other gig is at the Air Canada Centre on saturday night...
