a great gig at Irene's pub tonight.... i think we all played well, and it was especially great to reconnect with Trevor James, who I haven't had the privilege to share the stage with for about 5 years! so tired now... we stopped at a grocery store for snacks and are now all crashing out on our hotel beds. in the morning we get up and drive to Montreal for the last show of the tour!

tonight in Ottawa

We just rolled into Ottawa... we spent the ride up from Toronto listening to music (the John Mayer live disc!) and we're pumped about the gig tonight! If you're in the Ottawa area, come on down to Irene's Pub tonight to hear me and a great group of artists.

looking for a high C

i'm writing this on a short break in rehearsal, in preparation for saturday's show in Toronto... we've decided to string the upright bass with a high C but that requires a trip across town to get one.... so in the car we go! more later... k

tired in Yellowknife

I'm tired but it doesn't quite feel like night... rather like 5pm. here's the view from my hotel window, even though it's currently midnight... and since my body is on Toronto time, it's actually 2am for me!

so today in a nutshell... woke up early this morning to travel here to yellowknife. after a very long travel day, (which actually kinda flew by thanks to the personal tv on the plane) we had a soundcheck and then had some amazing arctic char chowder at an unlikely sports bar. and wine. i look pretty tired because i am. see below!

more to come tomorrow... we go live on TV tomorrow night on APTN... apparently it's HD too... my first time, i think?

I needed a creative kick in the butt, so i decided yesterday to rework marc's website. (the last design I did was probably about 3 years old and way out of date). More photos will be added soon, but you can see the work in progress online now.

tour update

hi everyone, i've had a really fun time touring across canada this past week. I took a bunch of video that i have to edit through before i can post more footage (but if you haven't already seen the video from Lethbridge, Alberta, check out the news feed now!).

Unfortunately, for personal reasons I had to fly home to toronto after the winnipeg show, which means i won't be joining the girls for the shows early this week, up to and including Sudbury. However, I will be rejoining Danielle and Rozalind for the shows in and around Toronto later this week, including the show this Saturday at the Cameron House. Sorry to everyone in western Ontario... hopefully I'll be able to come visit you another time soon.

sleepy in lethbridge

about to fall into bed but wanted to leave a note... we travelled to lethbridge today and played a show at The Slice, a cool place with awesome pizza and great sound system/soundman! :) one heartbeat moment when after the gig we almost didn't get to leave the venue - the car was so low on gas that it was stalling before we could even get going. danielle managed to get it started and running after a few nerve-wracking tries and we coasted cautiously to a gas station (thanks to danielle's awesome care to not hit red lights). i did the windows, but the water was so dirty that it just seemed to make it worse. (the dust from the mountains seems to have caked on the outside of the car pretty heavily. but at least now we have a full tank of gas and we're ready for the long drive to saskatoon tomorrow. gotta grab a few hours sleep... it's gonna be an early day.
