Fall Apart released by Sabrina Carpenter

Fall Apart by Sabrina Carpenter

This is a song Emma-Lee and I wrote together… in fact, first song we ever wrote together! Performed by the lovely and talented (only 11 years old!) Sabrina Carpenter from Pennsylvania.  Great job Sabrina!

Happy New Year!

2011 is off to a running start! with the beginning of pre-production for Emma-Lee‘s album. While I’ve done a lot of co-writing with Emma-Lee over the last year (for a variety of other artists and purposes), I also love her solo project and I am very excited to announce that Marc Rogers and I will be co-producing her upcoming record. Stay tuned!

Julie C Holiday Single Released!

Julie C: It Won't Be Christmas (Till You're Here) - Single

Ho ho ho… Julie C has just released her holiday single It Won’t Be Christmas (Till You’re Here) . I had a blast writing this tune with Julie and Emma-Lee…we decorated my studio and got our eggnog fix at the same time!  I also recorded and produced the track, so I’m pretty excited to share it with you. You can download it FREE this week on her website – www.juliec.com. After the free week is up, you can still get it on iTunes. Here’s hoping that it ends up in your holiday music mix!

ps: if you like it, please tell your friends!

it’s September already?

Wow I really can’t believe it’s already the beginning of September. Is it just me or did summer fly by?? I’m having an awesome time writing with some great writers and artists these days, including Brian West (Nelly Furtado, K’Naan), Rob Allen (Rihanna, Chris Brown), Eric Dill (Daughtry). I wrote a sweet tune called “Under The Sun” with Nicole Henry (jazz singer from Florida) and James Bryan (who was visiting from London)… she’s already started rehearsing it with her live band. I have a slew of new demos in progress, including a couple new tunes for Kalan Porter, one of which was co-written with Swedish electronic music producer Mårten Tromm. I also contributed some co-production work to a project of Gavin Brown and Keith Follese’s, for a young American band called Everfound.

In other news, Leah Daniels and Chad Doucette are working hard in the studio on their new records, both of which contain songs I co-wrote…I can’t wait to hear them!

I’ll try to keep the updates flowing – but if you want the latest best to follow me on Twitter!

A Spring Writing Update

I just returned from an amazing trip to London, UK where I was writing at Kensaltown Studios with some amazing artists. Kensaltown is a studio set up by Martin Terefe (producer for Jason Mraz, Train, KT Tunstall) and it’s quite the hub of activity, with many amazing producers and writers working there, one of which is my good friend James Bryan (whom you may remember as the guitarist of Sunshine State and the Philosopher Kings). I wrote quite a few songs there at the studio with european label artists who were coming through; one of the personal highlights for me was a song called “Outlaw” that James and I wrote with Sophie Delila (an artist signed to Universal Music, France). Our trip got extended by a few days due to the volcanic activity in Iceland and the disruption of air travel, but for me that was a plus because it meant I got to celebrate my birthday in London on May 1!

Other song/record related updates: Shannon Butcher will be releasing her new album Little Hearts on June 2nd at Hugh’s Room in Toronto and the record features a song we wrote together called “Simple Love”. Check out her website for details: www.shannonbutcher.com. Julie C has mixed and mastered her record and the final songlist has 3 tunes we wrote together (release date has not yet been announced). I’ve also recently received word that Australian artist and Vietnamese pop star Thanh Bui has begun rehearsing the 2 songs we wrote together with his live band. Plans are in the works for his new record, so stay tuned!
