      <title>Sponsor the String Quartet Recording Session</title>
      <link>http://www.karenkosowski.com/index.php</link>
      <description>
         Recording is almost finished for the new album! I finished vocals earlier this month and it's very exciting hearing the songs coming together. Some are ready to be mixed, but after much consideration I have come to the conclusion that there are a few songs that really need real strings played by live string players to give them the lushness they deserve. As I mentioned in my journal, earlier this year my funding applications were passed over and ever since, I have been making this record with the help of my credit card, favors from friends, and the bartering of services. However, some things can't be bartered for and with the wedding coming this year money is tight, so booking a string session becomes a bit of a logistical problem: there are musician fees to pay as well as costs for a large studio - even planned as efficiently as possible it's going to cost about $1500. Therefore I'm announcing the opportunity to become a "sponsor" for the string session and in return you will be invited to the studio in downtown Toronto to attend the actual recording! Donations of all sizes will help out a lot, however those who donate $100 or more will be invited to attend the actual recording session at a studio in downtown Toronto (to take place this summer, possibly even within the next couple of weeks). All who donate will also receive a personal thank you on the liner notes of the record. If you would like to donate, please email me asap at karen@karenkosowski.com. Thanks,Karenps: I've put together a little slideshow of some photos we took while in the studio recently... check them out in my journal!

      <title>Tour Updates And Nominations</title>
      <link>http://www.karenkosowski.com/index.php</link>
      <description>
         Hey everyone. I've got quite a few things to update you on, so let's get right into it:Big updates to the tour schedule. Saturday's double show in Waterloo is going to be Karen's final Chapters/Indigo in-store gig for her 2006 tour. (Meaning: today's 7 PM Waterloo show and all Chapters/Indigo shows after Saturday have been canceled.) With that said, she is going to have a end-of-tour 2006 bash with a full band in Toronto at The Central (formerly known as The Red Guitar). After the show, Karen is going to retreat to the studio and work on her new record for 2007. Full details for the December 2nd show will be posted as the arrive, so be sure to check out the tour info page for all the details.In other news, Tamara Podemski's album (which Karen produced, recorded and co-wrote) has been nominated in the upcoming Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards. The nominations' categories include: Best Female Artist, Best Songwriter, Best Music Video, and Best Single. The awards will be aired live on CHUM Television on November 24th. However, Tamara and Karen will be performing Tamara's music at the Blueprint For The Future in Yellowknife that weekend, so they will not be able to attend the awards show. Instead, come out and celebrate a day early at a special "pre-awards" gathering at Revival in Toronto on Thursday, November 23rd. (Karen will be performing in Tamara's band.) For complete details on the Revival show, be sure to head to the tour info page.

      <link>http://www.karenkosowski.com/index.php</link>
      <description>
         Hey guys, hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! I just wanted to inform everyone that Karen's show today at Chapters in Ottawa will start a bit earlier than previously mentioned. She'll now be starting her set at 11:30 AM rather than 5 PM so that she'll be able to get back in time to hit the stage with Courtney Farquhar at The Rivoli in Toronto. As well, two more shows have been added for tomorrow (October 14) at Chapters in Markham.In regards to tour changes in the coming weeks, we've had to do a little re-routing. We won't be able to hit up the Belleville chapters on October 20 or on November 4. However, two new Markham shows have been booked on November 4 in lieu of the Belleville dates. For full details, be sure to check out the tour info page.And finally: be sure to check out the photos section in the coming week or two. I managed to get some new shots of Karen performing while we were in Montréal. (At her first club gig in Montréal, nonetheless.) I should have them up fairly soon, I just have to convert and sort through the last of them.

(And, of course, at all the shows Karen plays.) Be sure to get a copy if you don't have one already.As well, Karen finished up her summer tour at the end of July and took some time out in August to work on her upcoming album. <title>Wish On A Star And National Sound</title>
      <link>http://www.karenkosowski.com/index.php</link>
      <description>
         Hey, sorry for leaving everyone in suspense on Friday. (I have a tendency of doing that sometimes.) Nevertheless, here's what you've all been waiting for:Karen has officially sold out of all her previous CDs. This includes Optimist Party and Planet. Instead of ordering more, she decided to put together a "retrospective" CD entitled Wish On A Star. Essentially, Wish On A Star is a hand-picked selection of earlier tracks, recent live solo recordings and previously unreleased tracks. On top of all that, this is Karen's first ever enhanced CD. The enhanced portion features never-before-seen photo galleries containing both live and promotional pictures, lyrics to all the songs on the CD and a whole lot more.Wish On A Star was sent to manufacturing about a week-or-so ago, so Karen should be receiving copies later in June. Once the final product is in, the site will be updated with song samples and cover art. The disc will be available on CDBaby and iTunes as time progresses. However, if you don't feel you can wait that long, come out to a show once Karen announces she has copies and purchase one.Speaking of shows, be sure to come out to the National Sound show at The Supermarket on Tuesday. (It is Marc's birthday bash, after all.) Their first-ever six song EP will be on sale at the show. For those that don't know, National Sound is Karen's side-project and features Marc on bass and Ben on drums. Check out their Myspace page for some sweet sample songs. And don't forget to check out Karen's tour info page for more upcoming shows.

         First of all, expect some big stuff happening on the site in the coming weeks. For now though, a few things have been happening behind the scenes. The tour page is undergoing a little face-lift to make things a little easier to read. That should be complete in a couple of days. Also, for those of you browsing the site on Internet Explorer, the horizontal scrollbar has finally been removed from the content box. On top of that, a favourite icon or "favicon" has been added to the site. If you use Firefox, you should see it beside the location of the site. If you use Internet Explorer, you'll only see the icon when you bookmark the site. Internet Explorer can be temperamental though, so it might not even show up if you do that. All the more reason to switch to Firefox. ;) On top of all that, the audio player's flash code has been updated. However, you shouldn't notice a difference. Furthermore, the "Site Reqs" link to the right of the audio player has now been replaced with a link to the messageboard. This should allow for quicker and easier access to the board. Last but not least, the site now offers an rss news feed. Essentially, this means you can read the site news without actually visiting the site. It's good for those times when you're on the go and only have enough time to open up your E-mail client. For those of you using Firefox, you'll notice the rss feed icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the window on the status bar. Simply click the icon then select subscribe and the feed will be added to your bookmarks menu. For those of you not using Firefox or you use a separate program for rss feeds, the URL for the feed is: http://rss.karenkosowski.com/. Be sure to include that last slash as some programs will complain if you don't.
